NIHR Chairperson’s Statement on the 20th Anniversary of the BIPD
Eng. Ali Ahmed Alderazi, Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), affirmed the importance of the ongoing cooperation between the NIHR and the Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) in advancing human rights knowledge and capacity-building. He noted that this cooperation has contributed to supporting specialized training programmes and enhancing the professional competencies of personnel on both sides.
Alderazi explained that the NIHR attaches particular importance to institutional partnerships that strengthen human rights work tools. The cooperation with the Institute, as a key partner, plays a central role in implementing a number of training programmes, workshops, and specialized lectures aimed at promoting a culture of democracy, supporting and entrenching sound democratic principles, fostering and expanding political awareness among citizens, and enhancing a culture of dialogue and exchange of views.
He added that the Institute provides knowledge-based and methodological programmes that help enhance awareness of constitutional rights and national participation mechanisms, thereby supporting the NIHR’s efforts in disseminating human rights culture across various segments of society. He stressed that the cooperation between the two sides represents a model of joint action in supporting the human rights track in the Kingdom through initiatives that complement the NIHR’s role in promoting respect for rights and freedoms and building a society aware of its rights and duties.
In conclusion, Alderazi expressed his sincere appreciation for the efforts of the Bahrain Institute for Political Development in the political and human rights fields, wishing for the continuation of joint cooperation and the further development of training programmes that contribute to advancing human rights performance and enhancing societal awareness.
